The NLP system for Resilience and Well-being in Business

Wed. 24 May 2023 | 19.15 – 21.00 GR time (CET+1)

Mental resilience is a valuable human skill, which helps us overcome obstacles, ominous and stressful situations, adversities, and crises, so we can enhance our development. Mental resilience is not a personality trait we are born with. It is a process that involves thoughts, behaviors, and actions that a person can learn in order to manage and recover from difficult experiences and circumstances.

Yet, apart from personal experiences, mental resilience finds wide application in the business world (entrepreneurship resilience). The environment the businesses operate in, is often unpredictable and rapidly changing. It shows characteristics of variability, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity and the adaptability of executives is considered essential. The hybrid work model established in businesses since 2020, digital transformation and flexible forms of work are bringing radical changes to the workplace.

It has been observed that resilient employees are better able to handle uncertainty, bounce back quickly and continue to progress, experiencing higher performance and productivity rates and significant levels of job satisfaction. The techniques of Neuro-Linguistic Programming help to maintain and strengthen the work-life balance of the person.

In this presentation, we will focus on how with NLP, we learn to build our resilience, acquiring a secure internal locus of control: we learn that we, not the circumstances, can influence everything we want to achieve. We thus maintain control over our actions, while being less influenced by external factors, resulting in operating more productively and autonomously. It helps us identify the symptoms of work burnout and boost our confidence and self-esteem, and understand how we can face obstacles and not be afraid of changes and challenges.

The internal locus of control in combination with the NLP, aims at adopting a growth mindset, leaving behind fixed mindsets that are accompanied by limiting beliefs, cognitive distortions and difficulties in managing changes at work.  In the workplace in particular, a growth mindset or fixed mindset affects everything from the way we lead, how we react to feedback, how we manage challenges, how we create or not growth opportunities for self and colleagues, and generally how we position ourselves towards development and growth. It also promotes and contributes to personal balance and a healthy mindset in coping with diverse situations.
